Kusari Soaks up Community at FOSDEM and Beyond

Kusari is honored to be participating in FOSDEM 2024 in Brussels and attending the State of Open Con 24 in London next month. I’ll be representing our team, so if you are planning to attend either, please reach out to me. I enjoy comparing notes and views about open source security and compliance, or hunting for the best local frites or chips!
If you’re not familiar with FOSDEM, it’s a two-day European conference that centers on the widespread use of open source. It’s where so many developers and innovators come together.
I’m pleased to represent Kusari in the software bill of materials developer room as part of a panel and actively engage with the community.
Here’s a some detail on what I’ve got planned for my time in Europe:
- Friday, Feb. 2 - Ahead of FOSDEM, I’ll be at the FOSDEM Fringe workshop on “FOSS license and security compliance tools.” I’m looking forward to hearing directly from users about their wishlist of features and building them into GUAC. I would appreciate any recommendations on DevRooms to attend on Saturday. I know lines can be long for popular rooms, and I want to make the wait worth it.
- Sunday, Feb. 4 - I’ll be part of the “Best practices managing SBOMs in the supply chain” panel in the SBOM DevRoom. I’ll share my thoughts on how GUAC fits in the larger supply chain arena.
- Tuesday-Wednesday, Feb. 6-7 - After FOSDEM, I’ll take the chunnel to the State of Open Con, hosted by Open UK. There is a well-curated security track with a number of thought-provoking topics (thank you Dr. Rebecca Rumbul of Rust Foundation and Andrew Martin of ControlPlane).
- Thursday, Feb. 8 - I’m speaking at the London OpenSSF Meetup with a packed agenda covering ways to explore transitive dependencies of open source software components in your supply chain.
It is always great to get out of the US and absorb a more global perspective on both tech and life. Please don’t hesitate to approach me and say hello. I’ll likely be sporting my new Kusari hoodie all week.
